Simple Effective Cleaning of Your Laptop and Smartphone
Periodic cleaning of your laptop is crucial in preserving its longevity. Besides that, you also keep your health in check. Indeed, germs thrive well on surfaces that we keep touching daily. In the life we live in, laptops, smartphones, and tablets are standard technological gadgets.
Additionally, tiny food particles, dust, and lint from the air settle in and out of the laptop. This clogs and slows the operating capacity of the gadgets. Because of that, we will look into the simple and effective ways of cleaning these technological gadgets without damaging them.
Cleaning a Laptop Screen
Not everyone knows how to clean a laptop effectively. You need to be ready with some cleaning material for the job.
· Surgical alcohol or distilled water. Tap water and other home detergents damage your screen.
· Lint-free fabric or any pure cotton cloth
Switch off the laptop and disconnect it from the power source. Spray the surgical alcohol or distilled water to dampen the fabric. Do not wet it. Start by wiping the edges of the screen using straight motions. After the corners, turn to the centre of the screen using the same straight wiping motions. If the cloth becomes dirty, use another fabric. Once done, wipe the surface with a clean, dry lint-free cloth.
Cleaning a Laptop Keyboard
Here you will need
- An air spray can or micro vacuum cleaner
- Distilled water
- Lint-free cloth
After switching off the laptop, turn it upside down to remove any loose particles from the keyboard. You may use the air can spray to blow out the tiny particles out. If you can, kindly use the micro vacuum cleaner. It sucks all the particles out without leaving any residue. Then, with a damp cloth, wipe the keyboard buttons clean.
Unclogging the Laptop Ventilators
Dust accumulation in the laptop can cause severe damage to the gadget. Over some time, dust settles into the connecting ports and cooling vents. The heat generated from the laptop does not escape out. This slows the optimal functioning of the gadget.
You may use an air spray can or micro vacuum cleaner. If you are not careful, the air sprayer might push the dust further in the laptop. The vacuum cleaner is the best option. It sucks the dust out with minimal effort. Being gentle on the fans helps clean out the dust without tampering with the blades.
Cleaning a Smartphone and Tablet
The routine is simple, yet few people do realize the effect it brings. Though you use them daily, your smartphones and tablets are bottom on the list on the cleaning list. Sometimes they do not feature at all. All you have to invest in are a microfiber cloth or a 100% cotton piece of cloth. You may either use distilled water or surgical alcohol. These do not leave marks and do evaporate quickly.
Wash your hands with soap and water clean and dry. Dampen your microfiber cloth with a little alcohol or distilled water. Then gently wipe the surfaces of your phone or tablet. Within a few seconds, your gadget will be dry and clean. On the connecting ports, use the air can sprayer to blow out the lint and dust. Be careful to do it at an angle. Better use a micro vacuum cleaner if you have it.
Final Thought
Like all electronic gadgets, your laptop, smartphone, and tablet need routine checkups and cleanings. Creating a regular cleaning schedule keeps the laptop and smartphone clean. The clean environment is a factor in the efficiency and long life of the gadgets. If you maintain these simple tips periodically, you will enjoy the best service from your laptop.
