Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra Review: Is It Worth The Buy?

More and more people are turning to smartphones, which is why the market is growing so quickly. Some brands hold the majority of the market. The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra releases on 17 February and we are quite excited to see what the new phone from Samsung offers.  We’ll take a closer look at the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra in this review and consider whether it’s worth the upgrade.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra Technical Specifications

Let’s start by looking at what goes on inside the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. You can choose between different models. The RAM and storage space differs between these options. The 8GB of RAM is usually enough for most people, but if you enjoy heavy gaming, choosing the 12GB RAM model might be a good idea.

The Qualcomm SM8550-AC Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is combined with an Octa-Core process in order to deliver exceptional performance, even when multitasking. This chipset gives you faster performance since it uses 4nm tech.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has an Adreno 740 GPU. This is a powerful graphics processor for a mobile device. The combination of the chipset, CPU, GPU, and RAM will ensure you can enjoy even intensive content on the smartphone – such as Injustice 2, Asphalt 9 Legends, Genshin Impact, and Call of Duty Mobile without any lag.

There are four different options that you can choose from, ranging from 256GB up to 1TB. The 1TB model is definitely the go-to option if you store a lot of content and download many apps on your smartphone, but can be a waste if you do not use so much storage space on a mobile device. There is no memory card slot on the phone, so keep this in mind when you choose a storage option.

You can jam out to your favourite tracks using the speakers in the S23 Ultra. They’re tuned by AKG and you can play your audio files at a frequency of 384KHz.

You get Wi-Fi with the smartphone, which makes it easy to connect to wireless networks. You’ll also find that the tri-band Wi-Fi makes it easier to connect. Bluetooth 5.3 is something that you’re going to enjoy too, as it gives you more stable syncing between your devices. For navigation, you can rely on the GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, and BDS features. You also get support for NFC and wireless charging with this model.

In terms of battery life, the S23 Ultra is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery and supports wired chargers with a power output of up to 45 watts. If you prefer wireless charging, however, then the maximum power output that the S23 Ultra supports is 15 watts.

Companies are constantly improving the displays that add to smartphones – and the S23 Ultra is no exception. You’ll notice that the display is quite an improvement over previous models – measuring 6.8 inches. One thing to keep in mind is the screen-to-body ratio of 89.9%, which is lower than some of the other modern smartphones that recently launched. This can make the phone feel a bit bulky in your hand, but luckily it does offer a slim design.

The screen fitted in the S23 Ultra offers support for a resolution of 1440 by 3088 pixels. The HDR10+ and Dynamic AMOLED 2X display technologies significantly enhance the colours and overall quality of visuals you display on the phone. Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 also creates a protective layer that effectively protects the screen against scratches, bumps, and even falls.

We can’t do a review of a Samsung flagship phone without considering its camera – and the S23 Ultra definitely does not fail to impress in this department. While it remained speculation for some time, it has now been officially confirmed that the S23 Ultra comes with a 200 megapixel camera.

The back camera has a quad design with four lenses. There’s the 200 megapixel lens. This is a first in the smartphone industry and will change the way we take photos from our phones. In fact, with the right alignment, your photos can even be used for professional purposes. The 200MP camera offers photographs at a 4320p resolution – preserving the quality of each shot you take.

You also get three more lenses to help you take better photos. These lenses include a telephoto, periscope, and ultra wide lens. You can take photos of your subjects close up or rather zoom out for a bigger view of your surroundings. The lens gives you the chance to take landscape and portrait photos, and you’ll likely see the range of filters that usually comes with Samsung phone features here too.

Like to take selfies? Then you’ll be glad to find out there’s a selfie camera on the front of the phone too. There’s not much to talk about when you look at the front camera, but it’s still worth mentioning. The lens gives you photos at a 12 megapixel quality and allows you to record videos in 4K resolution. There are also two FPS settings that you can use. To give you that vibrant finish, you can switch on the HDR10+ setting on the camera app.

Conclusion

We’re all excited for the release of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra! You’ll definitely enjoy the large screen, the super powerful hardware, and the fact that you can take photos like a pro. The phone comes in different models, so you don’t have to worry about breaking the bank if you’re on a budget. The lower end options still gives you access to features like 8GB RAM, 256GB storage space, and all of the other flagship features that come with this device. With this said, we won’t all be in the position to afford the price tag on the phone – but if you can, it’s definitely worth the upgrade.
