How to find a laptop serial number?

To find the serial number of your laptop, you can use one of the following methods:

  1. Check the bottom of the laptop: Many laptops have a sticker on the bottom casing that displays the serial number along with other identifying information. Look for a label or sticker containing alphanumeric characters. The serial number may also be accompanied by a barcode.
  2. Access BIOS or UEFI settings: Restart your laptop and access the BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) or UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) settings. The method for accessing these settings varies depending on the laptop manufacturer and model. Typically, you need to press a specific key (e.g., F2, F10, Del) during startup to enter the BIOS or UEFI. Once in the BIOS or UEFI settings, you can usually find the serial number listed under system information or a similar category.
  3. Use Command Prompt or PowerShell (Windows): On Windows laptops, you can use Command Prompt or PowerShell to find the serial number.
    • Press Win + R to open the Run dialog box.
    • Type “cmd” (without quotes) and press Enter to open Command Prompt.
    • In the Command Prompt window, type the following command and press Enter:
      arduino
      wmic bios get serialnumber
    • The serial number of your laptop will be displayed.
  4. Check System Information (Windows): On Windows laptops, you can also use the System Information tool to find the serial number.
    • Press Win + R to open the Run dialog box.
    • Type “msinfo32” (without quotes) and press Enter to open System Information.
    • In the System Information window, look for the “System Model” or “Serial Number” field. The serial number of your laptop should be listed there.
  5. Check About This Mac (Mac): On Mac laptops, you can find the serial number in the “About This Mac” window.
    • Click on the Apple menu () in the top-left corner of the screen and select “About This Mac.”
    • In the “About This Mac” window, click on the “Overview” tab.
    • The serial number of your Mac laptop will be displayed.

Using one of these methods, you should be able to easily find the serial number of your laptop.
